Seyfaddin Huseynli: Permission granted to deliver essential medication to my brother Bakir Safarov, who is imprisoned in Russia

Permission has been granted to deliver essential medication to Bakir Safarov, who is imprisoned in Russia, Seyfaddin Huseynli, the brother of Bakir Safarov, told APA.

“My brother Bakir Safarov is 62 years old. He suffers from hypertension — in other words, he has high blood pressure. His medication must be administered on time, and his diet must be properly maintained. It’s true that now he is allowed to receive medication. But at first, he wasn't even examined by a doctor. This issue was resolved thanks to the relevant influence of the Azerbaijani state,” he said.

S. Huseynli noted that, according to the information he has, the investigation into the Safarov case is now fully under Moscow’s control:

“I can no longer obtain any personal information regarding my brother. All available information is now being shared through official channels. As far as I know, Moscow has completely taken over the investigation and its oversight. I also have no information regarding the others who were detained. I hope that the issue regarding my brother Bakir Safarov will be resolved fairly very soon.”

Seyfaddin Huseynli said his brother is a pedagogue and is known by everyone as a respected and wise man: “For his name to be mentioned in a criminal case and for him to be accused is a serious injustice.”

To note, on June 27, Russian law enforcement agencies conducted operations in homes where Azerbaijanis were living in Yekaterinburg. Most members of the Safarov family, originally from Aghdam district, were detained during the operation.

Due to the violence used by law enforcement officers during the operation, brothers Ziyaddin and Huseyn Safarov lost their lives. Including their other brother Bakir Huseynov, a total of seven individuals have been remanded in custody by a Yekaterinburg court.
