After the state registration of branches and representative offices of foreign media entities in the Republic of Azerbaijan, the body (organization) designated by the relevant executive authority must inform the body (organization) designated by the relevant executive authority within 3 (three) working days in Azerbaijan, this is reflected in the amendment to the Law "On Media" approved by President Ilham Aliyev, APA reports.
According to the law, branches and representative offices of foreign media entities in the Republic of Azerbaijan must apply to the body (organization) designated by the relevant executive authority within 7 (seven) working days after the state registration to be included in the Media Register.
The operation of branch offices of foreign media entities in the Republic of Azerbaijan in violation of these requirements, as well as their removal from the Media Register, shall be grounds for the liquidation of that branch or representation by the body (organization) determined by the relevant executive authority. In the cases provided for, upon the application of the body (organization) determined by the relevant executive authority, access to the Internet information resource (website) of that branch or representation shall be immediately restricted by the body (organization) determined by the relevant executive authority.
Journalists working in branches and representations of foreign media entities in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as foreign journalists, shall not be included in the Media Register.
