The delivery of Azerbaijani natural gas to Syria via Türkiye is not only a new stage in the history of our country's energy exports, but also lays the foundation for an energy bridge between the South Caucasus and the Middle East, Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said at an event held in this regard, APA-Economics reports.
He noted that the annual volume of gas to be supplied to Syria at the initial stage is expected to be up to 1.2 billion cubic meters.
"We believe that this supply will play a significant role in restoring the economy in Syria and improving the social well-being of the population. Today's important event is the beginning of a new stage of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Syria in the oil and gas sector. We are confident that this partnership will not only promote mutual economic development, but also create a solid foundation for strengthening regional energy security, as well as for the implementation of joint investment and strategic infrastructure projects," the minister added.
