The first meeting of the expert group on the shallowing of the Caspian Sea will be held in Baku, said Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev at a meeting of government officials of the Caspian littoral states held within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, APA reports.
In his speech, he also touched upon environmental challenges and noted that the decline in water levels is a cause for concern throughout the region, that this problem was raised by the President of Azerbaijan at the 2022 Ashgabat Summit, and that preparations are ongoing to organize the first meeting of the five-party expert group in Baku.
