On August 10, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, APA reports.
The President of Kazakhstan congratulated the head of state and the people of Azerbaijan on the agreements reached in the United States of America on the normalization agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that these results are of historical importance and expressed hope that they will create opportunities for comprehensive cooperation in the region.
The Head of State, thanking for the congratulations, stressed the importance of the declaration and other documents signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the United States of America under the witness of US President Donald Trump in terms of ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region. He noted the role of US President Donald Trump for his support in this regard. President Ilham Aliyev also said that the agreement reached on an unhindered transport connection between the main part of Azerbaijan and its Nakhchivan region will have a positive impact on the cargo carrying capacity of the Middle Corridor in the future.
The head of state expressed gratitude for Kazakhstan's hosting of the talks between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia within the framework of the peace talks in May last year and for its contribution to this process.
During the telephone conversation, views were exchanged on the prospects for relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
