The explosion at the Elastik gunpowder plant in Russia’s Ryazan region was caused by the detonation of ammunition during operations, APA reports.

The number of injured has reached 74.

Five of them have been taken to the Shilov Central District Hospital in serious condition.

As a result of the explosion, the workshop building was completely destroyed. It is reported that there are people trapped under the debris.

100 people have been evacuated from the plant area.

Note that an explosion also occurred at this plant in 2021. At that time, 17 people died in the explosion that occurred in the gunpowder production workshop.
