Alaska Summit marks the beginning of a New World Order - American political analyst

The August 15th ALASKA Summit between the United States of America and the Russian Federation marks the beginning of a New World Order, emerging in a context where the European Union is weakened and the Azerbaijan–United States bilateral alliance is stronger than ever, American political analyst Peter Tase told APA.

Mr Tase said the Trump–Putin meeting represents the start of a much-needed bilateral dialogue that had been completely shut down during Joe Biden’s presidency and the eight years of ineffective U.S. foreign policy under Barack Obama.

"As the United States government pursues its Make America Great Again strategy and adopts protectionist policies, this historic meeting in Anchorage further anchors and deepens U.S. national interests in Eurasia and Africa. At a time when international politics is shaped by trade tensions and weakened multilateral institutions, Washington is seeking a cordial dialogue with Moscow. It is no coincidence that President Donald Trump, representing the most powerful nation on Earth, met with President Vladimir Putin just seven days after his historic meeting with President Ilham Aliyev in the Oval Office. “Pursuing Peace” is President Trump’s principal goal, and before achieving a ceasefire and securing the withdrawal of Russian Armed Forces from Ukraine’s sovereign territory, he has positioned himself as the world’s sole statesman capable of setting forth a clear, consolidated path toward a lasting peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Arriving at the doorstep of the Russian Federation with this geopolitical success, President Trump came to Anchorage stronger than ever before. The décor at Elmendorf Air Force Base was arranged to reflect America’s superior military strength, the bravery of its armed forces, and the commitment of Washington’s diplomacy. During the welcoming ceremony, only the flags representing the branches of the U.S. Armed Forces were displayed. President Trump’s body language was notably relaxed as he walked on the red-carpeted tarmac alongside Mr. Putin," he said

American political analyst believes that another significant detail was that President Putin rode together with President Trump in the same armored official Cadillac used to transport the U.S. President: "At Elmendorf Air Force Base, neither the Russian nor the U.S. national flags were present — a symbolic choice, as the Trump–Vance White House often employs powerful visual messaging, drawing on symbolism, interior design, and gestures of unshakable resolve, as seen in the latest U.S.–Russia summit. President Trump reaffirmed his commitment to resolving the war in Ukraine, while his Russian counterpart expressed a desire for a lasting settlement and a balanced order stretching from Europe to Asia. The Alaska Summit ensured and reinforced Ukraine’s security. It also appears that discussions addressed bilateral commerce, cooperation in critical mineral extraction, and trade partnerships — confirming that the meeting was not solely focused on the war in Ukraine but also on a broad range of strategic matters."

Peter Tase noted the ceasefire in Ukraine remains a priority for President Putin, who openly expressed his disappointment with the Biden administration’s gridlock and suspension of all communications with Moscow.

"President Trump, in contrast, emphasized his determination to end the conflict. Joining the U.S. President were Steven Charles Witkoff, CIA Director John Lee Ratcliffe, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Antonio Rubio — key members of the Trump administration committed to preserving the balance of power in Eurasia and the South Caucasus. The fact that President Putin invited President Trump to visit Moscow — in English — was a powerful gesture, underscoring once again the recalibration of geopolitical spheres of influence in Europe, Africa, and the Americas," he concluded.
