U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary for Political Affairs Elbridge Colby has informed Washington’s NATO allies that the United States will play only a minimal role in providing any security guarantees for Ukraine, APA reports, citing Politico.
The publication noted that this is “one of the clearest signals yet that Europe will have to shoulder the burden of ensuring lasting peace in Ukraine.”
The article added that Colby conveyed Washington’s position during consultations with the military leaders of other NATO member states.
