Bagrat Galstanyan's arrest extended for another 3 months

The court in Armenia has extended the detention of Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan for another three months, APA reports, citing Armenian media.

Galstanyan is charged with “preparing a terrorist act and attempting to seize power.”

It should be noted that since May of this year, Prime Minister Pashinyan has sharply intensified his attacks on the church, making critical posts about church leaders on social networks and proposing that the election of the Catholicos be subordinated to the state.

Following this, several high-ranking clergymen in Armenia, including Archbishops Bagrat Galstanyan and Mikael Ajapahyan, as well as businessman Samvel Karapetyan, who supported the church, were arrested. They are accused of calling for the overthrow of the government.
