30 Russian servicemen injured each other over compensation

Thirty servicemen and officers from Russia’s 83rd brigade fighting in Ukraine opened fire on each other in order to receive awards and financial payments, APA reports citing Russia’s Kommersant magazine.

The investigation into the criminal case against the servicemen has been completed and referred to court. A total of 30 soldiers are charged in connection with fake injuries. Among them are Colonel Artyom Gorodilov and Lieutenant Colonel Konstantin Frolov, who are accused of large-scale fraud. In addition, Frolov faces charges of bribery, as well as illegal possession of weapons, ammunition, and explosives.

According to the investigation, the 30 servicemen of the brigade received more than 200 million rubles in compensation for alleged “injuries and wounds.” For these “injuries,” the commanders also submitted recommendations for awarding the soldiers with the Medal “For Courage” and the Order of Courage.
