A plane crash occurred in Poland – an F-16 fighter jet crashed while preparing for an international air show, according to Polish government spokesperson Adam Szłapka and Poland’s Minister of Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, APA reports.
"Tragedy in Radom (Polish city - ed.): an F-16 aircraft crashed while preparing for the AirShow. Unfortunately, the pilot died. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz spoke with the Prime Minister, who is on his way to the scene," Szłapka said.
Kosiniak-Kamysz, for his part, confirmed that he has already arrived at the site of the tragedy.
"In the F-16 crash, a pilot of the Polish Armed Forces died – an officer who always served his country with dedication and great courage," he added.
According to Polish media, the crash occurred during the execution of a "barrel roll" maneuver. The probable cause was a stall at low altitude and loss of lift.
