Around 123,000 flights faced GPS problems within four months in Europe

Between January and April this year, approximately 123,000 flights experienced GPS malfunctions, APA reports, citing Sweden’s STV television channel.

The disruptions were observed in the airspace of Sweden, Finland, the Baltic states, and Poland.

These interferences are considered an increasing threat to aviation safety. The channel emphasized that in April alone, an average of 27.4% of flights were affected by such disruptions.

According to the report’s authors, the sources of GPS signal interference are located in Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, Smolensk, and Rostov.
