Armenian PM: Modern technologies are planned to be used on border with Azerbaijan

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the country's sovereignty and jurisdiction apply to all persons on its territory, regardless of national, racial, religious affiliation or citizenship, Pashinyan said while answering a question from opposition "Armenia" bloc MP Agnessa Khamoyan at a parliamentary session on September 10, APA reports citing Armenian media.

The MP was interested in the rules for entry and exit of Azerbaijani citizens to Armenia and their possible legal liability.

The Prime Minister stressed that the jurisdiction of the Republic of Armenia, as a state principle, applies equally to all persons. According to him, Armenia plans to use modern technologies in border management:

“As a rule, these technologies involve the implementation of passport control through electronic devices. Border guards intervene only when suspicious cases are detected,” Pashinyan noted.

He added that these systems are planned to be used on the country’s borders with Georgia, Iran, Türkiye and Azerbaijan, as well as at airports.
