Prime Ministers of Georgia and China discussed Middle Corridor

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with Premier of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang in Shanghai, the Georgian PM said in an X post, APA's local bureau reports.

"In the framework of my official visit to attend the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE), I had the honor to meet with H.E. Li Qiang, Premier of China. We had productive discussions on the solid progress of Georgia-China relations and the deepening of our strategic partnership," Kobakhidze noted.

According to information released by the Georgian government, the parties emphasized the importance of cooperation within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative and the development of the Middle Corridor.

Kobakhidze stated that Georgia, as an important part of the Middle Corridor, is ready to expand cooperation with China to further enhance regional connectivity and trade.

Note that Kobakhidze is visiting Shanghai at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart. Tomorrow, he will participate in the opening ceremony of the China International Import Expo, where Georgia is attending as an honorary guest this year.
