Some details become known on Azerbaijani neutralized in Georgia -UPDATED

Some details have become known regarding Mirza Aliyev, who was neutralized during a special operation conducted in connection with individuals related to the “criminal underworld” in the Gabal village of the Lagodekhi district of Georgia, APA’s Georgia bureau reports, citing local media.

Mirza Aliyev was a member of the Lagodekhi City Council from 2010 to 2014.

Relatives of Mirza Aliyev denied his connection to the “criminal underworld.”

His family members claimed that police officers used excessive force and entered the house without warning. According to them, the first shot was fired by Mirza Aliyev during the operation, as he mistakenly thought that the masked men entering the house were robbers.

Thirty-four individuals linked to the “criminal underworld” have been detained in Georgia, APA’s local bureau reports, citing the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the ministry, one of the detainees was Mirza Aliyev, born in 1973, a resident of Gabal village in the Lagodekhi district. During the operation conducted to arrest Aliyev under a court order, he opened intensive fire on special unit officers, injuring one of them severely in the chest.

Aliyev was neutralized on the spot by return fire.

The investigation determined that the suspects were involved in resolving disputes within the “criminal underworld,” demanding fines from those who violated “rules,” and threatening them with death. It was also revealed that a criminal authority named Elmuraz Mammadov actively participated in the group’s illegal activities.

During searches of the detainees and their residences, computer equipment and mobile phones used to communicate with “thieves-in-law” abroad, narcotics, firearms, and large sums of cash were seized as material evidence.

Crimes committed by individuals associated with the “criminal underworld” are punishable by up to 15 years of imprisonment.
