Armenian government strips Church of free land rights, shuts down TV channel -UPDATED

The government of Armenia has decided to suspend the activities of the “Shoghakat” television channel established by the church, APA reports.

The TV channel will be closed as of January 1.

The justification for the decision states that the basis for such a step is the amendments to the Law on "Audiovisual Media" dated October 24, 2025.

The “Shoghakat” TV channel was established by the government in February 2011, with management of its shares transferred to the Public Television Council. The main task of the television company was to broadcast moral and cultural programs.
