Turkish MoD: Investigation underway into Falcon-50 crash with Libyan delegation

The Turkish Ministry of National Defense issued a statement regarding the crash of a Falcon-50 aircraft that took off from Ankara on December 23, carrying the Libyan Chief of General Staff and his accompanying personnel, APA's Türkiye bureau reports.

The ministry stated that the causes of the plane crash are being carefully investigated:

"The cause of the accident is being thoroughly and carefully investigated by the relevant agencies of our state in cooperation with the Libyan authorities," the statement said.

Note that on December 23, an aircraft carrying the Chief of the Libyan General Staff crashed after taking off from Esenboğa Airport in Ankara. As a result of the incident, a total of eight people were killed.

Among the victims were the Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Armed Forces, Mohammed Ali Al-Haddad, and the Army’s Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Fituri Garibil.

The Libyan government has declared three days of national mourning.
