A woman is suspected of the assassination attempt against Vladimir Alekseyev, Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) of the Russian Armed Forces, in Moscow, an informed source told Kommersant, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
It was reported that a search is currently underway for the person who shot the general.
The publication also released footage from near the residential building on Volokolamskoye Highway, where the assassination attempt took place.
Note that the assassination attempt against Alekseyev took place in northwestern Moscow. An unidentified person shot him. The wounded general was hospitalized. According to investigators, on February 6, 2026, an individual whose identity has not yet been established opened fire several times at a Defense Ministry employee in a residential building on Volokolamskoye Highway in Moscow and then fled the scene.
