Former Georgian Defense Minister detained again

Tbilisi City Court has reviewed the preventive detention measure chosen for former Georgian Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze, APA's local bureau reports.

The court upheld its previous decision.

The former minister's lawyers filed a motion for his release on bail of 10,000 GEL. They also proposed the application of additional restrictive measures, such as confiscation of Burchuladze's passport.

Along with Burchuladze, the court also remanded in custody Giorgi Khaindrava and Vasil Mkheidze, who were detained in the same case.

Note that Juansher Burchuladze was detained on September 11 last year. He is accused of abuse of office and legalization of illegal income. These crimes are punishable by 9 to 12 years in prison.

Burchuladze held the post of Defense Minister of Georgia in 2021-2024.
