Karabakh is worth visiting, said Harry Mitsidis, founder and CEO of the international travelers’ platform NomadMania, APA reports.
Speaking at the organization’s annual meeting in Baku, Mitsidis noted that Karabakh has long remained an underexplored region and was largely closed in recent years due to security concerns.
“Our members are drawn to challenging destinations, as they offer unique experiences, and we believe such places are worth visiting,” he stressed.
Providing detailed information about Karabakh’s history, including the First and Second Karabakh wars, the destruction of cities and villages during the Armenian occupation, the Khojaly genocide, and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis, Mitsidis said participants would witness both разрушed and reconstructed areas during their visit.
He also informed attendees about the upcoming “Shusha 2026” expedition project, set to begin tomorrow.
Within the project, a group of foreign travelers will visit Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, including Aghdam, Shusha, Khankendi, and Lachin, to familiarize themselves with the region’s history, cultural heritage, and ongoing reconstruction efforts.
The event aims to promote Azerbaijan’s tourism potential internationally and increase interest in the Karabakh region.
Founded in 2012, the NomadMania platform divides the world map into 1,301 regions and offers a ranking system for travelers. It currently has more than 55,000 members, making it one of the most active global travel communities.
