White House will not seek congressional authorization to continue operation in Iran

The Washington administration currently does not consider it necessary to seek congressional authorization for further military operations against Iran, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated at a regular press briefing, APA reports.

According to her, "this formal congressional authorization is unnecessary," since, according to the current administration, the United States is not currently at war with Iran, but is only conducting "large-scale military operations" against the Islamic Republic. "That is not necessary right now," Leavitt reiterated.

By law, in the United States, only Congress has the power to declare war.
