Restoring transport links with Nakhchivan will boost Middle Corridor efficiency, Speaker Gafarova says

Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) Sahiba Gafarova has delivered a speech at the Annual Conference of the Boao Forum for Asia as part of her working visit to the People’s Republic of China,  the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.

Sahiba Gafarova first shared her views on the importance of the Boao Forum in her speech.

In her speech, the Speaker also informed participants about Azerbaijan–China relations. Sahiba Gafarova noted that shared perspectives bring the countries closer together.

She informed the forum participants that Azerbaijan places special importance on the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference in internal affairs after being subjected to nearly three decades of occupation and restoring its territorial integrity and sovereignty in accordance with international law.

She also recalled that Azerbaijan will host the World Urban Forum in the coming months, as well as the Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) to be held in Baku in the autumn of 2026, noting that this will further strengthen the country’s commitment to international cooperation.

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis also stated that, within the framework of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the restoration of transport and communication links between the western regions of the country and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic will further increase the efficiency of the Middle Corridor: “In particular, the Middle Corridor is proving itself as a reliable and efficient route connecting Europe and Asia.”
