U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to bomb Iran’s Kharg Island and oil facilities, he stated in a social media post, APA reports.
Trump said the United States is engaged in serious negotiations with what he described as a new and more reasonable regime in Iran to halt military operations, noting that significant progress has been made and an agreement is likely in the near future.
He warned, however, that if no deal is reached soon and the Strait of Hormuz is not immediately declared open for trade, the U.S. would end its “great presence” by destroying Iran’s power plants, oil fields, Kharg Island, and possibly desalination facilities.
Trump added that these sites had been deliberately avoided so far, and described the potential action as retaliation for American soldiers and others killed during what he called 47 years of terror under Iran’s previous regime.
