Crocus attack convict Yusufzoda Yakubjon dies by suicide in Moscow detention center - UPDATED

Yusufzoda Yakubjon, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for his involvement in the Crocus terror attack, died by suicide, the Moscow Main Directorate of Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service told RBC, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.

It was reported that the 37-year-old Yusufzoda Yakubjon died by suicide at the “Matrosskaya Tishina” pre-trial detention center. Resuscitation measures were carried out for several hours, but it was not possible to save his life.

One of the individuals accused in the terrorist attack at the Crocus concert complex in Moscow attempted suicide at the “Matrosskaya Tishina” pre-trial detention center, APA’s Moscow bureau reports, citing REN TV.

It was reported that 37-year-old Yusufzoda Yakubjon Davlatkhon was rescued and hospitalized.

In March, Davlatkhon, along with other individuals accused in the Crocus terrorist attack, was sentenced to life imprisonment to be served in a special regime correctional facility.

Note that the Crocus terrorist attack took place on March 22, 2024. Armed attackers stormed the concert hall, opened fire, and set the building on fire. As a result of the incident, about 150 people were killed, and more than 600 were injured to varying degrees.

A few days before the terrorist attack, Yusufzoda Yakubjon Davlatkhon transferred money to cover the accommodation expenses of the perpetrators and, after the crime was committed, sent part of the funds to one of them.
