Araqchi questions US commitment to diplomacy after Pakistan visit

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has said it remains unclear whether the United States is genuinely committed to diplomacy, following what he described as a “very productive” visit to Pakistan.

In a statement shared on his X account, Araqchi praised Pakistan’s role, highlighting its “goodwill efforts and brotherly initiatives” aimed at promoting peace in the region.

He noted that during the visit, he outlined Iran’s position on a possible framework that could permanently end what he referred to as the war against Iran.

Despite the positive tone regarding regional engagement, Araqchi expressed skepticism about Washington’s approach to ongoing negotiations.

“We have not yet seen whether the United States is truly serious about diplomacy,” he said, underlining Tehran’s doubts over the effectiveness and intent of US-led diplomatic efforts.
