Papuashvili: EU’s attitude toward Georgia is unclear

The South Caucasus is an important link between Europe and Asia, and for this reason, the European Union’s attitude toward Georgia is unclear, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili said, APA’s local bureau reports.

According to him, Brussels’ policy has a globally chaotic nature, and this does not apply only to Georgia.

The speaker noted that the EU has completely lost its role in global politics.

“We see that they no longer raise questions about global issues, and they do not say a single word even about regional problems. Conducting dialogue with Georgia is primarily in the interest of the European Union, since Georgia and the entire region are a connecting link that ties the EU with resources or routes,” Papuashvili added.

It should be noted that President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said at the Armenia–EU summit held in Yerevan that Armenia is the shortest route toward Central Asia and the Caspian Sea. She noted that previously this route had been closed due to war and geopolitical reasons.
