On July 2, 2025, in Baku, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan Mohammad Naeem Wardak, the Azerbaijan MFA told APA.
During the meeting, cooperation between Azerbaijan and Afghanistan in the fields of economy, trade, transit-transport, diplomacy, humanitarian aid, consular affairs, and other areas was discussed, and the importance of deepening relations was emphasized.
Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov expressed gratitude for Afghanistan’s unequivocal support of Azerbaijan’s just position during the previous conflict.
The significance of the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, which will also be attended by the Afghan delegation, was highlighted.
Mohammad Naeem Wardak thanked the Azerbaijani side for the invitation to participate in international events and emphasized that such initiatives promote dialogue and mutual understanding between countries.
The parties also exchanged views on ongoing regional developments.
