Explosion at U.S. Steel Plant in Pennsylvania kills 2, injures 10

Two people died, and at least 10 people were injured, after the last missing individual was found dead following multiple explosions at the U.S. Steel Clairton plant on Monday.

An explosion at U.S. Steel’s Clairton Coke Works near Pittsburgh killed two people, injured at least 10 others, and left one worker missing Monday. The blast, which occurred around 10:51 a.m., sent black smoke billowing over the Mon Valley and triggered several smaller explosions, News.Az reports, citing AP News.

Emergency crews found one survivor in the rubble hours later and continued searching the charred remains of the facility into the evening. Authorities urged residents to avoid the area to allow rescue operations to proceed.

The Clairton plant is part of a century-old steelmaking hub, and the incident has raised concerns over both worker safety and potential disruptions to steel production in the region.
