Speaking at the opening ceremony, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency Ahmad Ismayilov said that the “Smart city” and “Smart village” projects implemented in the liberated territories have fundamentally changed the face of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur.
According to him, the effective communication model tested during COP29 proved that the unity of the state, media, and society enables overcoming any global challenges.
“Similar achievements will be repeated during WUF13, and we will achieve even greater professional success,” he added.
Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samaddin Asadov noted that broadband internet networks across the country have facilitated access to information, while artificial intelligence tools have enabled more efficient data processing.
Deputy Minister of Science and Education Firudin Gurbanov stated that 63% of schools have internet access and that it is planned to expand this to cover all schools.
Later, a panel session dedicated to the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture” was held within the forum. It was noted that declaring 2026 as the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture” in Azerbaijan is a continuation of reforms in this field, and hosting WUF13 in the country demonstrates Azerbaijan’s international standing.
It was emphasized that increasing challenges also necessitate more active and responsible participation of the media.
