On September 19, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Sophie Lagoutte, the newly appointed Ambassador of the French Republic to Azerbaijan, APA reports.
Ambassador Sophie Lagoutte presented a copy of her credentials to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov congratulated Ambassador Sophie Lagoutte on her appointment and wished her success in her work.
During the meeting, the current state of bilateral and multilateral relations between Azerbaijan and France, as well as regional and international issues, were discussed.
During the meeting, where an exchange of views was also held regarding the causes of the crisis in Azerbaijan-France relations, it was noted that, despite the existing problems, it is important to continue mutual dialogue and discussions.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed Ambassador Sophie Lagoutte about the current situation and realities in the region during the post-conflict period, as well as the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process.
Ambassador Sophie Lagoutte thanked for the reception and emphasized that she would spare no effort to contribute to strengthening relations between Azerbaijan and France during her tenure.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.
