Azerbaijan designates 688-hectare Nakhchivan land for solar power plant development

The Cabinet of Ministers has issued a decision on “Designating a state-owned land plot in the administrative territory of Nakhchivan city as an area for renewable energy sources,” APA reports.

Based on the decision, a 688-hectare state-owned land plot in the administrative territory of Nakhchivan city has been designated as an area for renewable energy sources for the construction of a solar power plant with an initial capacity of 50 MW, which will be expanded at later stages depending on export opportunities.

The Ministry of Energy is tasked with implementing measures to select the electricity producer in the designated renewable energy area in accordance with the requirements of the “Procedure for Selecting an Electricity Producer in Renewable Energy Areas”, approved by the Decree No. 2285 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated August 2, 2023.
