Train loaded with Kazakh grain departs from Azerbaijan to Armenia-PHOTO-UPDATED

As announced by President Ilham Aliyev during his state visit to Kazakhstan on October 21, Azerbaijan has lifted the restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia that had been in place since the occupation, Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, Head of the Public Relations Department of “Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC, told journalists, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, goods are now being sent to Armenia via transit through Azerbaijan.

“Yesterday, 15 wagons carrying 1,048.8 tons of grain were sent from the Boyuk Kasik station to Armenia via transit through Azerbaijan from Russia. The goods are transported through Georgia and then to Armenia,” Bakhtiyar Hajiyev noted.

He also stated that the transportation of Kazakh grain to Armenia via Azerbaijan has begun. Fifteen wagons carrying nearly 1,000 tons of grain sent from Kazakhstan entered Azerbaijan on November 5. The train is now at the Bilajari station. It will continue its journey along the Bilajari–Hajigabil–Boyuk Kasik route, and the goods will be dispatched from Boyuk Kasik station.

“Next shipments of goods from both Russia and Kazakhstan to Armenia via Azerbaijan are expected,” Bakhtiyar Hajiyev emphasized.
