Interest rates on loans are much higher than on deposits – List by region


According to information as of early December of this year, the average interest rate on loans in Azerbaijan was 14.2%, while the average interest rate on deposits was 5.12%.

reports, citing official data, that the lowest interest rates on loans were recorded in Baku (12.90%), while the highest were in the Daglig-Shirvan economic region (19.99%).
The highest interest rate on deposits was recorded in the Absheron-Khizi economic region (6.91%), while the lowest was in the East Zangezur economic region (4.45%).
The data shows that in all economic regions, interest rates on loans are many times higher than interest rates on deposits. The largest difference between interest rates on loans and deposits was recorded in the Mil-Mugan economic region, where loan rates exceed deposit rates by five times.
The smallest difference was observed in the Absheron-Khizi economic region, where loan rates exceeded deposit rates by only 2.8 times.
