Azerbaijan has played and will continue to play an important role in regional and global energy supply, Munehiro Hosono, INPEX Executive Director and Senior Vice President (Europe and Middle East Projects), said at the 31st Baku Energy Forum, Olaylar informs.
"The energy transition must be based on energy security, economic realities, and market conditions. Natural gas with a low carbon footprint will continue to play an important role," Hosono stated.
He recalled that since 2003, INPEX has owned about 10% of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) block: "This project is the foundation of long-term trust with our partners in Azerbaijan - SOCAR, other participants, and the government."
Hosono added that the company sees Azerbaijan as a country with significant potential in gas production, offshore projects, and carbon capture and storage technologies.
