An international conference titled "Amritsar June 1984: Transnational Repression as an Extension of Genocide" has begun in Baku, focusing on the Indian governmentchr("39")s repressive policies toward ethnic minorities, Olaylar informs.

The event is organized by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG).

The conference brings together representatives of Sikh communities from Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, and the United States, heads of think tanks, experts in the fields of human rights and ethnic minorities, as well as direct victims of the Indian governmentchr("39")s repressive, racist, and persecutory policies, including representatives of the Dalit community.

Discussions are expected to focus on keeping the issue of transnational repression and systematic persecution of ethnic and religious minorities-particularly Sikhs and Dalits-by the Indian government on the agenda of international organizations.

Participants will also exchange views on strengthening coordinated cooperation among diaspora organizations affected by repression, enhancing joint legal protection mechanisms against transnational persecution, and advancing coordinated action on international platforms.
