Victim from Khankendi: Kocharyan used to oil machines at our factory before becoming Komsomol secretary

On April 11, during the ongoing trial at the Baku Military Court, victim Nazeyke Atakishiyeva testified and answered questions, APA reports.

N. Atakishiyeva, who was born in 1954 in the city of Khankendi and lived there, stated that Armenians did not treat Azerbaijanis living in Khankendi well, and that their attitude significantly worsened starting in February 1988.

N. Atakishiyeva stated that she worked as a weaver at the Karabakh Silk Factory located in Khankendi, that Robert Kocharyan was responsible for lubricating the machines at the factory, later became a Komsomol secretary, and was one of the main figures involved in actions against Azerbaijanis.

"Since February 1988, bearded men used to wait for us outside our workplace. They were not from Khankendi," she said.

She also noted that she was stoned and insulted by Armenians in front of her house and added: "They banged on our door, cursed at us, and said, ‘Leave this place, we will be the ones living here.’"

The victim stated that in February 1988, their house was looted and destroyed, after which they moved to Aghdam.

Note that the trial of citizens of the Republic of Armenia, accused of committing crimes against peace and humanity as well as war crimes—including the preparation and conduct of aggressive war, genocide, violations of the laws and customs of war, terrorism, financing of terrorism, the violent seizure and retention of power, and many other offenses—continues.
