Prosecutor General's Office: Ziyaddin Safarov died in vehicle of Russian law enforcement agencies

 

Ziyaddin Safarov died in a vehicle of Russian law enforcement agencies in the morning hours on the day of the incident, said Nemat Avazov, Head of the Investigation Department at the Prosecutor Generalchr("39")s Office of Azerbaijan, Olaylar informs.

Avazov made the statement during a press conference held at the Prosecutor Generalchr("39")s Office on July 2 regarding the opening of a criminal case related to Azerbaijanis murdered in Russia.

According to him, an investigation was launched on June 27 regarding the fact of the killing of Azerbaijani citizens by Russian law enforcement agencies:

"During the initial investigation, it was revealed that Azerbaijanis were detained as a result of an operation conducted by Russian law enforcement agencies. At that time, they were severely injured. Ziyaddin Safarov died in the morning hours of that day in a vehicle of Russian law enforcement agencies."

Parviz Jalilov, investigator of the Investigation Department at the Prosecutor Generalchr("39")s Office, stated that Ziyaddin Safarov was subjected to torture in the vehicle of Russian law enforcement agencies:

"During the investigation, the relatives of the victims were recognized as victims. Operational investigative actions were carried out regarding the detained persons. Ziyaddin Safarov was taken from his home on June 27, and at that time there were no signs of injury on him. He was subjected to torture by Russian law enforcement agencies after being taken from his home."

The investigator also emphasized that various reasons for their deaths were reported in the Russian media:

"When the bodies were examined, numerous injuries, broken bones, and other signs of injury were identified. During the examination, it was determined that they received numerous physical injuries while being detained and transported. The Safarov brothers, Huseyn and Ziyaddin, died as a result of post-traumatic shock caused by these injuries."
