Baku hosts 9th meeting of heads of diplomatic services

On July 7, 2025, the opening ceremony of the 9th meeting of the heads of diplomatic service bodies titled "Azerbaijan’s Foreign Policy After the Restoration of Sovereignty: Priorities and Challenges" was held at ADA University, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in an X post, APA reports.

Speakers at the opening ceremony included Rector of ADA University Hafiz Pashayev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, and Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev.

During the speeches, various aspects of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy were addressed, including achievements and future plans in the fields of economy, security, energy, culture, and communications. The current situation in the region where the country is located, as well as the broader international security landscape, was analyzed.

At the opening ceremony, discussions were held on expanding the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda, cooperation within regional and international organizations, and the new directions of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy. Special emphasis was placed on the country's mediation efforts, climate diplomacy initiatives, and future plans in these areas.

The current situation in the region during the post-conflict period, the large-scale reconstruction and restoration works underway in the liberated territories, as well as the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process were discussed. The importance of eliminating the territorial claims reflected in Armenia’s constitution—claims that threaten the peace process—was emphasized.

As part of the consultation, which will continue from July 7 to 9, panel sessions are planned on topics such as bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, economic, climate, and energy diplomacy, connectivity, legal proceedings, humanitarian and cultural diplomacy, international development assistance, communication in foreign policy, parliamentary diplomacy, international treaties, diaspora activities, and enhancing the effectiveness of diplomatic service institutions.
