The Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg, Russia, has extended the pre-trial detention of Mutvaly Shykhlynsky, the son of the head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Yekaterinburg, until December 14, 2025, Olaylar informs.
He is being held in connection with a case involving alleged violence against a government official.
The Sverdlovsk Region Court announced the decision via social media, stating that the court had granted the investigatorchr("39")s request to prolong the measure of restraint. The ruling has not yet entered into legal force.
Previously, on July 16, 2025, the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg ordered Shykhlynskychr("39")s detention. Investigators accuse him under Part 1 of Article 318 of the Russian Criminal Code, which refers to the use of violence against a representative of authority.
The incident leading to the arrest occurred on July 1 near the Baku Plaza complex. Federal Security Service officers reportedly confronted Shahin Shykhlynsky, the head of the Azerbaijani diaspora, while he was in a car driven by his son.
During the court hearing, Mutvaly Shykhlynsky stated that he did not see the security officer on his right side and expressed regret over the incident.
