Putin bans export of gold bars weighing more than 100 grams from Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree banning the export of refined gold bars weighing over 100 grams from the Russian Federation, with a number of exceptions, APA reports citing TASS.

The decree was published on the official legal information website.

"Establish, from May 1, 2026, a ban on the export from the Russian Federation of refined gold bars weighing more than 100 grams by individuals, legal entities, and individual entrepreneurs," the document states.

It is noted that exceptions are cases when the export of affiliated gold bars is carried out to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) through air checkpoints across the state border of the Russian Federation at the international airports of Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Knevichi, subject to the presence of a permit from the Federal Assay Office (FPO).

Moreover, according to the document, exceptions are made for the export of affiliated gold bullion by individuals to non-EAEU countries through the Russian air border checkpoints at Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, and Knevichi airports, provided they have a permit from the Federal Border Service. This also applies to cases where legal entities and individual entrepreneurs export gold bullion to non-EAEU countries.
