Tehran has rejected claims that United States forces sank Iranian naval vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, dismissing the reports as inaccurate.
Iran’s state broadcaster, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, cited a senior military source as saying that no vessels belonging to the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy had been destroyed by US forces.
The denial follows earlier reports by Associated Press, which quoted US Central Command chief Brad Cooper as saying that American military helicopters had sunk six small Iranian boats in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
The conflicting accounts highlight rising tensions in the region, where the waterway remains a critical global energy corridor and a frequent flashpoint between Iran and the United States.
