Armenian citizens permanently living abroad to vote in parliamentary elections only in person

Armenian citizens permanently residing abroad will be able to participate in parliamentary elections only physically within the territory of the republic, spokesperson for the Armenian Central Election Commission Seda Ghukasyan told TASS.

According to her, after amendments made to the Electoral Code in 2012, polling stations are no longer opened at Armenia’s diplomatic missions abroad.

“An Armenian citizen, in accordance with the country’s current legislation, can express their will only through physical participation within the territory of Armenia,” the CEC official emphasized.

At the same time, Armenian citizens serving in diplomatic service, military personnel on long-term assignments or studying abroad, as well as their family members who have the right to vote, are exceptions. They are entitled to vote electronically.

Note that the next parliamentary elections in Armenia will be held on June 7.
