Krasnoyarsk Mayor Vladislav Loginov has been detained on suspicion of accepting a bribe, regional law enforcement agencies told TASS, APA reports.
"The case falls under Article 290 of the Russian Criminal Code (receiving a bribe)," the agency source specified when asked about the grounds for the detention.
Searches are being conducted in the Krasnoyarsk administration following the detention of the mayor.
It has been reported that Loginov will be transferred to Moscow ("etap") for a pre-trial detention hearing.
Note that Krasnoyarsk is the sixth largest city in Russia and the largest city in the Siberian region.
