Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan has been arrested, APA reports citing Armenian media.
Note that yesterday, the Armenian Criminal Police began searches at the home of Samvel Karapetyan, head of the "Tashir" Group of Companies and a Russian businessman.
Everything started after the businessman took a stand in defense of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also commented on the events on his social media account: “This is not Nizhny Tapr village in Kaluga for you, this is Armenia. I hope the taste of the state remains with you.”
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia confirmed Samvel Karapetyan’s detention. The ministry’s press secretary, Narek Sargsyan, stated that Karapetyan was detained in Yerevan.
