Since June 14, nearly 900 Russian citizens have been evacuated from Iran via Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkmenistan, said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during a briefing held today, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson once again thanked the countries — including Azerbaijan — that facilitated the departure of Russian citizens from Iran and Israel during a time of escalating tensions.
Note that since Israel launched missile strikes on Iran, the majority of Russian citizens in the country have been evacuated through the "Astara" border checkpoint located on the Iran-Azerbaijan border.
