Azerbaijan discloses volume of grain sent from Kazakhstan by rail

More than 500 thousand tons of grain have been sent from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan via railways through the territory of the Russian Federation, APA-Economics, citing the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.

It is reported that in the first half of this year, KTZ transported 6.6 million tons of grain, which is 53% more compared to the same period in 2024.

During the reporting period, export shipments increased by 62%, reaching 5.1 million tons.

It is noted that in January-June of this year, 2.6 million tons of grain were sent by railway from Kazakhstan to Central Asian countries, which is 31% more than last year. Shipments to Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan doubled, reaching 158 thousand and 29 thousand tons, respectively. More than 1.8 million tons (+23%) were sent to Uzbekistan, 623 thousand tons (+35%) to Tajikistan, and 117 thousand tons (+35%) to Afghanistan.

During the reporting period, significant growth was demonstrated in shipments via ports and transit routes under KTZ. Shipments to Iran through Aktau and Kuryk increased 12 times, through Russia 4.7 times, and to the Baltic countries 13 times. Shipments through Black Sea ports increased by 45%, and through Baltic ports by 18%.

"Transit to Azerbaijan via the Russian Federation has exceeded 500 thousand tons," the report emphasizes.

It is stated that KTZ continues to ensure the timely delivery of agricultural products from local producers to foreign markets, to prepare grain warehouses for the new crop.
