On August 21, the first meeting of the Syria-Azerbaijan Working Group covering humanitarian fields was held online, the Ministry of Science and Education told APA.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Education and Head of the Syria-Azerbaijan Working Group on humanitarian fields Kenan Karimzade, members of the Working Group from the Azerbaijani side, Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Syrian Arab Republic Elnur Shahhuseynov, as well as Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Syrian Arab Republic and Head of the Syria-Azerbaijan Working Group on humanitarian fields Ghaith Wargouzeq, and members of the Working Group from the Syrian side.
Within the framework of the mentioned meeting, issues of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of science, education, and culture were discussed. Additionally, an exchange of views was held on exploring opportunities for Syrian students to study at higher education institutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan within the framework of the "Heydar Aliyev International Education Grant" program.
Note that as a result of the official visit to the Syrian Arab Republic on May 4, 2025, led by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Samir Sharifov, a decision was made to establish the Syria-Azerbaijan Working Group covering humanitarian fields with the aim of developing cooperation between the two countries in the fields of science, education, and culture.
