Poland launches first divisional exercise in recent years "Iron Defender"

Poland has launched the first divisional exercise in recent years "Iron Defender", which was organized in response to the Russian-Belarusian maneuvers "West-2025", APA reports, citing fakti.bg.

„The 18th Mechanized Division has begun the redeployment of troops and equipment as part of the first stage of the exercise "Iron Gate - 25", one of the key maneuvers conducted within the framework of the group of exercises "Iron Defender - 25", the General Staff of the Polish Army wrote in X.

It is noted that the main forces will be concentrated at the training ground in Orzysz, 70 km from the border with the Kaliningrad region. The exercises will involve over 30,000 soldiers from Poland and some NATO countries.


The largest divisional exercises in recent years, jointly with NATO, were announced at the end of May by the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense, Władysław Kosińska-Kamiś. As he explained, the maneuvers will be a response to the Russian-Belarusian exercises “West-2025“.
