Israel–Palestine conflict : Latest developments over the past 24 hours

The past day has brought intensified fighting and growing international fallout in the Israel–Palestine conflict, News.Az reports

Israeli ground forces advanced deeper into Gaza City, supported by artillery and air strikes that hit more than 150 targets. Heavy bombardments struck areas around hospitals and residential districts, leaving severe damage to infrastructure.

Israel announced a new 48-hour evacuation corridor from Gaza City. Many Palestinians, however, chose not to move south, fearing permanent displacement and noting the lack of aid in already overcrowded areas.

The death toll in Gaza has now surpassed 65,000. Aid organizations report that more than 90 percent of the population is displaced, while food, medicine, and fuel supplies remain critically scarce.

The European Commission proposed freezing the EU-Israel free trade agreement, suspending certain trade preferences, and sanctioning two far-right Israeli ministers. The move reflects Europe’s growing concern over the humanitarian situation, though divisions among EU member states could complicate approval.

At the same time, a U.N. Commission of Inquiry repeated its accusation that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza — a charge Israel has firmly rejected. The allegations added to international debate about accountability and possible war crimes.

Communications in northern Gaza have been cut off, with internet and phone networks collapsing under ongoing bombardments. Hospitals, already overwhelmed, face worsening difficulties in coordinating patient transfers.

Despite international pressure, Israeli military officials said the offensive would continue, describing Gaza City as the last major Hamas stronghold. Civilians continue to flee through the evacuation route, but humanitarian agencies warn that aid convoys remain blocked and the crisis is deepening.
