Türkiye welcomes 50 million visitors and earns 50 billion USD in tourism revenue in first nine months of 2025

Türkiye welcomed 50 million visitors and earned 50 billion USD in tourism revenue during the first nine months of 2025, “APA-Economics” reports, citing Turkish media.

According to third-quarter results, the country recorded a 1.6% increase in international tourist arrivals and a 5.7% rise in tourism revenues compared to the same period last year.

Based on data from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) for 2024, Türkiye, which ranks as the world’s fourth-largest tourism market, presented its nine-month performance at a press conference held in Istanbul. As one of the key centers of Mediterranean tourism, the country demonstrated a notable increase in both visitor numbers and tourism income.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that during the first nine months of 2025, Türkiye hosted 50 million international tourists — a 1.6% rise year-on-year. Tourism revenues reached 50 billion USD, marking a 5.7% increase compared to last year.

According to official statistics, foreign visitors stayed in Türkiye for an average of 10.3 nights, with an average per-night expenditure of 103 USD per person — a 7% increase compared to the previous year.

Minister Ersoy noted that the first nine months of 2025 were challenging for the region due to both regional conflicts and seasonal changes caused by climate change.

“Despite all these factors, thanks to our implemented strategies, we increased our revenues by 5.7% to reach 50 billion USD. For the first time in our history, we surpassed the 50-billion-dollar mark by the end of the third quarter. Our goal by the end of the year is to achieve 64 billion USD in tourism income,” he emphasized.

During the first nine months of the year, the top three countries sending the most tourists to Türkiye were Russia (5.53 million visitors), Germany (5.22 million), and the United Kingdom (3.54 million).
